was a nice way to get over the January blues with a selection of personal choices.
I was very lucky to have been given a bottle of Cuvee Liberte by Vincent Garde, one of the two Garde brothers who own Chateau Haut Goujon. This particular wine was a creative indulgence by his brother who wanted to make a wine without SO2, quite a challenge.
The winner for me was the Pinot Gris Schlossberg by Blanck which although £24 retail, demonstrated that the Alsatians make wine of such underappreciated quality and price. A real bargain for that price. The wine itself demonstrated great balance in terms of fruit and acidity, and had wonderful fruit flavours of Lychee and Pineapple.
